Most capacity assessments end up as a report on a shelf.
The tools were built to measure capacity, not to build it. We designed KAPorg to close that gap.
Why we built KAPorg
For more than a decade, our team at i-APS has worked alongside humanitarian agencies, development partners, governments and private firms in some of the world’s most complex settings. We kept seeing the same pattern. An organization completes a capacity assessment, often because a donor or regulator requires one. A consultant produces a long report, the scores are filed away, and a year later the same gaps appear in the next assessment.
The research says the same. Practitioners warn that organizations too often treat an assessment as if it were change, when “assessment is the easy bit.” Studies of public-sector reform describe institutions that change what they look like on paper without changing how they perform. In the private sector, most companies cannot show whether their training and audits led to lasting improvement.
The problem was never a lack of effort or commitment. The tools were built to measure capacity, not to build it. We designed KAPorg to close that gap.
From a snapshot to a cycle of growth
KAPorg turns assessment into a continuous process:
Assess where you stand, using tools built around your own goals and standards.
Act on every weak score by turning it into a concrete, assigned task.
Learn while you work, with policies, SOPs and training linked to the tasks they support.
Prove your progress on live dashboards and with audit-ready reports. Open priorities carry forward from one cycle to the next.
Staff, advisors, boards and funders work in one shared space, with clear review and approval steps. The result is evidence of growth that others can trust.
Why it matters in every sector
Built for the organizations doing the work
We believe strong institutions are the foundation of lasting impact, whether they are a local NGO responding to a crisis, a public agency serving citizens, or a business growing its operations.
That belief shapes how we offer KAPorg. Businesses and institutions subscribe to the platform. National humanitarian organizations at the country level can use it free of charge.
This reflects our commitment to the Humanitarian Reset vision of action that is locally led, globally supported, and driven by the greatest need. Local organizations should not have to wait for outside support to prove they are ready to lead. KAPorg gives them a way to show that readiness on their own terms.
Who we are
KAPorg is developed by KAPtech group, a brand of International Advisory, Products and Systems Ltd. (i-APS), based in Alexandria, Virginia. KAPtech group also builds KAPsurvey, KAPinsights and KAPcourse. We combine governance, risk management, institutional strengthening, training, capacity building experience with practical technology, and we build tools we have needed ourselves in the field.
Our goal is simple: every organization should be able to see where it stands, know what to do next, and prove it is growing.
